The work coordination meeting for boosting agricultural products in Nay Pyi
Taw Pyinmana, Nay Pyi Taw Tatkon and Nay Pyi Taw Lewe in Nay Pyi Taw District was held at the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation on 1 January.

It was attended by Minister for Agriculture and Irrigation Maj-Gen Htay Oo, departmental heads and officials concerned.

The minister said that the ministry is applying two agricultural methods — boosting agricultural production, and per acre yields of crops; that the first method covers not only extensive reclamation of vacant lands but also launching mixed cropping patterns; that to meet the second method, high-yield strains, introduction of hybrid strains, and advanced methods are used; and that steps are under way to figure out issues triggered by changes in climate pattern to avert adverse effects on outputs of crops. The minister underscored the thrifty practice to minimize loss and wastage. He stressed the need for those responsible to collect correct figures and data for development in the agricultural sector, and meeting the targeted output of summer paddy. In conclusion, the minister called for exerting goodwill to improve the socio-economic life of local farmers.

He also called for improving the agricultural sector, after hearing the reports presented by departmental heads. He discussed matters on boosting agricultural production with departmental heads and those in-charge from districts and townships.
