Agricultural Credit for Monsoon Rice Disbursed Agricultural credit for mon-soon rice farmers were made available this year with an increased loan rate of 8,000 Kyats per acre compared to last year's loan rate of 7,000 Kyats. For Nargis-hit areas in Ayeyarwady Division, particularly, in Ngaputaw, Labutta, Mawlamyingyun, Pyapon, Bogale, Kyaiklat and Dadaye Townships, farmers could get the credit since June. It is learnt that about 112,432 Kyats in lakh has been already disbursed in Ayeyarwady Division. To help farmers who suffered from Nargis-cyclone, Myanma Agricultural Development Bank has made necessary arrangements like allowing new loan though matured loan are not fully recovered, consideration of breached areas where crops are grown in undesignated areas like forest area, helping farmers who cultivate in salt producing fiels, etc. Special arrangement to disburse 1388 Kyats in lakhs has also made for 1814 farmers in 14 village-tracts of Ngaputaw township, who never been contacted with the Bank before. According to the reports, it is learnt that out of the targeted area of 3.69 million acres of monsoon rice in Ayeyarwady Division, about 3.14 million acres or 85 per cent have been already planted by the end of July, 2008.
